Pack Your Gear Responsibly with Rather Green Bags

The more I travel, the more I want to ensure that my lifestyle is as sustainable as possible. That consideration affects not only how I travel, but what I buy and what organizations I support.

In my never-ending search for the ideal travel bag, I’ve recently come across Rather Green, a Canadian company that makes bags in a sustainable way.

Rather Green bags come in three sizes: the Amiga Tote (measuring 15” high, 12” wide, and 7” deep) that lists for $75, the Amiga Petite (measuring 11” high, 11” wide, and 6” deep) that lists for $69, and the Amiga Plus (measuring 13” high, 15” wide, and 7” deep) that lists for $89. All are made with sturdy 100% organic or natural cotton canvas, depending on the color of the material. Regardless of the size you choose, each bag comes with three bulky pockets outside (two of which can hold bottles up to 4” in diameter) and three flat pockets inside.

The bags come in a neutral color by default, but you can choose the color of the exterior pockets: earth, coffee, lavender, ocean, morning glory, Merlot, poppy, sweet potato, sunflower, deep forest, forest, avocado, wild rose, carbon, and ash.

Once you choose the ideal bag size, you can customize it beyond merely choosing a color. Perhaps you want snaps on top to keep the contents secure.  Or, maybe you want to add a key clip so you always know where your keys are. Add extra internal or external pockets, or even make the external pockets flat. Get a laptop pocket included, shorten the straps, change the color of the bottom or the bag, or get it monogrammed. Add a suitcase strap, a crossbody strap and loops, or extra handles. All these customizations cost a little extra, but the end result is that you get a bag that works for you.

For each bag made, Rather Green partners with One Tree Planted to plant a tree in either Canada or the United States (depending on the origin of the order). Top date Rather Green has planted more than 6,000 trees through this tree planting initiative.

To clean your bag, spot clean as long as you can before completely washing the whole thing. The bags are made to withstand machine washing, but for the best results and the longevity of the bag, consider washing it by hand.
